Cambridge English Language Assessment is one of three major exam boards which form the Cambridge Assessment Group. Our sister organisations, Cambridge International Examinations, and Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations (OCR) provide school and vocational examinations in many countries. As part of the Cambridge Assessment Group we can access a vast resource of research and expertise.
Cambridge University Press and Cambridge English Language Assessment bring together expertise in the development of courses, support materials and practice tests to provide teachers with official preparation materials for Cambridge English exams. We also work closely on projects such as Cambridge English Practice Testbank and publish joint research, such as Studies in Language Testing (SiLT) and English Profile Studies.
Our work with IDP: IELTS Australia and the British Council to deliver IELTS remains one of our key strategic partnerships. Since its launch in 1989, millions of test takers have chosen IELTS to make their study, work and travel ambitions a reality. Over 2.5 million tests are now taken annually.
FutureLearn is a social learning platform based in the UK and provides free, online courses from the world’s leading educators. FutureLearn is supporting our newly launched massive open online courses (MOOCs) which have been written by experts from Cambridge English.
We continue to be a very active partner in the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE), and have taken a leading role in organising key events worldwide. ALTE works closely with testing organisations, schools and academies globally to support the development of language testing.
Working closely with the Council of Europe we helped to develop the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) – the standard benchmark used internationally to describe language ability.
We are one of the key partners in English Profile, a global research programme that was involved in the further development of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Since 2010, we have been working with the University of Michigan to promote Michigan English language exams around the world. Our mission with CaMLA is to offer a comprehensive and flexible set of the highest-quality American English products and services to help educational, governmental and private sector institutions meet their language-assessment needs.
