Cambridge English Language Assessment has been supporting the State Government of Gujarat in its initiative to raise the level of English among students and the workforce. Although students and professionals in India have good technical skills, many are lacking the required level of English language to enable companies to compete for international business.
The state government created the Society for Creation of Opportunity through Proficiency in English (SCOPE) to manage the project and appointed Cambridge English to fulfil the assessment requirements.
We developed a custom-made programme of language assessment, linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This allows learners to approach employers with a language qualification linked to an internationally recognised standard.
