2013 is the 100 year anniversary of Cambridge English exams. Coinciding with this important milestone, we are also changing our name to Cambridge Assessment English.
100 years of Cambridge English exams
The first Cambridge English: Proficiency exam was taken by three people in 1913. Now, over 4 million candidates a year take Cambridge English exams around the world. This enormous growth reflects how English has evolved into a key skill, and how our exams focus on the real-life communications skills candidates need for success at university, in the workplace and for immigration.
We are celebrating our centenary with a programme of events around the world and a new book, Cambridge English Exams - the first hundred years....
Changing our name
Cambridge Assessment English is the new name for University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
We are changing our name to make it easier for people to understand what we do.
The new name and new logo will be introduced gradually during 2013, and our exams, certificates, statements of results and other official documentation will change from November 2013.
