A new website has been launched to give language teachers the confidence and skills to bring technology into their teaching.
The Digital Teacher has been developed by experts at Cambridge English in consultation with practising language teachers and trainers. The Cambridge English Digital Framework for Language Teachers, forms the basis for the organisation of this site and provides a focused and principled guide to professional development. Teachers are encouraged to use the free self-evaluation tool and explore the six categories of the framework to find their unique starting point and so they can set realistic goals.
‘Using more technology in their teaching can be a daunting task for many teachers,’ explains Andrew Nye from Cambridge English. ‘We know that technology affords many benefits for language learning, and that learners need digital teachers to help them to learn effectively in today’s world, so we’ve developed The Digital Teacher. It can be used in the same way as a guidebook, to make sure teachers know where they are and where they are going and to enable them to build their confidence using technology in the classroom.’
Teachers visiting The Digital Teacher will find practical tips, ready-to-use lesson plans, training, blog posts and digital product reviews which relate to the six categories of the Digital Framework: The Digital World, The Digital Classroom, professional development for The Digital Teacher, Designing Learning, Delivering Learning and Evaluating Learning.
