Frequently asked questions

What is Cerego?

Cerego is an adaptive learning system that uses algorithms and scientific research into memory to help you learn materials quickly and effectively. Usually, you forget new language quite quickly after you see it for the first time. If you practise it again soon after you first see it, it will become a stronger memory, and will then be more fixed in your mind.

What are Cerego learning materials for IELTS?

Cambridge English has used Cerego to create a free trial that you can use to learn and remember vocabulary for IELTS and academic English on your computer, tablet or smartphone.

Who it’s for?

The free trial is for anyone who wants to improve their English vocabulary to help them prepare for their IELTS test or academic study.

How does it help you learn?

It helps you learn by finding out what you know and don’t know, and helping you practise newer vocabulary until you really know it. Cerego tells you exactly when you need to learn it, and reminds you what to practise. This means you can rely on the vocabulary to be useful for you.

What are the benefits of using Cerego learning materials for IELTS?

  • Convenient – online, available anytime and anywhere.
  • Effective – personalised so you practise exactly what you need to know.
  • Research based – these are adaptive learning materials, using concepts from research into memory to make sure that you learn new language thoroughly and effectively.
  • Easy to use – choose a set to learn, then work through at your own speed.

How long will this pilot be live for?

These materials are part of a free trial and are available for you to use until May 2016. We will be collecting and analysing data, and asking you to tell us about your experience using the site to help us improve the experience for future users. We will email you some surveys both during your time using the site and when you have finished these learning materials.
