Cambridge Assessment English has been shortlisted for The Alliance Excellence Awards 2019 – a prestigious awards ceremony in the alliance management sector. The Cambridge experts made the finals for their work on an online course that helped thousands of people working with refugees.
Volunteering with Refugees is a massive open online course that Cambridge developed in partnership with FutureLearn and Crisis Classroom. The course was a huge success and so far has helped over 8,000 people to understand the linguistic and social needs of refugees and get ready to teach.
The free course has been shortlisted in the Corporate Social Responsibility category which recognises alliances that have made a profound, measurable and positive impact.
"It’s a great honour to have our strategic alliance acknowledged in this way," commented Chloe Shaw, Partnerships Strategy Manager at Cambridge English. "Together we’ve contributed complementary skills and capabilities to build a course for volunteer teachers which has real social impact. We’ve combined our expertise in helping people learn English with Crisis Classroom’s expertise in teaching and trauma therapy. FutureLearn has provided the engaging social learning environment where teachers can study in their own time and share their experiences. It’s been a true collaborative effort.”
