Cambridge English has set up a new expert committee with the higher education sector in the US and Canada. The Higher Education Admissions Council will meet regularly to discuss the latest thinking, challenges and opportunities in the US and Canada’s higher education sector.
The committee members bring a wealth of experience and expertise in the areas of student recruitment, admissions, international education and student support. It includes members from diverse higher education institutions in the US and Canada including California State University - Northridge, Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs, Johns Hopkins University, Seneca College, The Juilliard School, University of Alberta and Wellesley College.
The first meeting of the Council discussed the importance of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages, recruitment challenges for admissions officers and the importance of English language qualifications for the sector.
“We are committed to supporting the higher education sector in North America,” said Pete Novak, Country Manager for USA and Canada, “the Council will be an excellent opportunity to have important discussions with the sector. Whether it’s the challenges posed by the pandemic, or the growing opportunities for ambitious students in the US and Canada as a study destination, our aim is to listen, learn and contribute to the discussion.”
