Experts from Cambridge will talk about the importance of English language skills in the workplace and the best ways to assess English at different points of peoples’ career journeys to recruiters across Chile. The event is being hosted by Cambridge Assessment English in collaboration with the Chilean British Chamber of Commerce and will take place online the 17th of June.
During the event Cambridge Assessment English will also showcase an AI-powered English test and a major piece of research that they carried out with QS which highlighted the significance of English in the workplace, along with a worrying skills gap in Chile and the rest of the world.
Speaking in the run up to the event Pablo Toledo said:
‘English remains a fundamental skill and it’s no longer a question of whether to learn it or develop it in the workforce, but more of becoming aware of the high-cost organizations pay when they do not measure it efficiently. The continuing restrictions caused by the pandemic will bring much greater competition for jobs in the future and English language skills will be more important than ever before. Companies will also have access to new opportunities which only open up if they have the right English skills. This means that applicants who can communicate effectively in English will have a huge advantage. It also means that organizations will need to think carefully about how they measure the language skills of their applicants and staff, because nobody can afford to make the wrong choices in a global competitive environment.’
During the event two experts from Cambridge Assessment English will present best practice for companies who want to measure English skills for new and existing employees – and for the purpose of measuring the success of a corporate English programme. Pablo Toledo, Assessment Manager for Southern Cone and Andes, and Lisandro Terenzi, Senior Business Development Manager at Cambridge Assessment English will also showcase Linguaskill – an online English test developed in Cambridge, which is powered by Artificial Intelligence.
