Writing skills for Cambridge English: Preliminary for Schools

Title: Writing skills for Cambridge English: Preliminary for Schools

Date: Wednesday 21 May 2014

Time: 10.00 – 11.00 UK time

Overview:

This webinar is for teachers who are preparing candidates, or going to prepare candidates, for the Cambridge English: Preliminary for Schools exam. The presenter will focus on the Writing paper, principally on helping teachers improve their ability to prepare their students. This will be done by explaining the assessment scales at B1, helping teachers understand them, and applying these scales to examples of students’ work.

Presenters:

Helen Spillett

Helen Spillett has extensive experience in English language teaching, assessment and teacher training. She taught in Italy, China and the UK for many years before joining Cambridge Assessment in 2002. She contributed to a wide range of examinations and projects for Cambridge English, focusing particularly on IELTS, Cambridge English: Young Learners, Cambridge English: Proficiency and Delta. She retired from her post as Senior Assessment Manager in 2013 and now works as a freelance consultant.

Mariana Calderon

Mariana is responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategy for the Cambridge English for Schools exams in the compulsory sector. One of Mariana’s key priorities is to keep improving the way Cambridge English can support primary and secondary schools when teaching children and teenagers, through:

  • international assessment and certification
  • learning support and materials
  • teacher support and development.
