More and more organisations around the world are choosing Cambridge English exams to measure the English language skills needed for work, study and immigration. Latest figures show Cambridge English exams are now accepted by more than 20,000 organisations around the world.
US-based Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) became the 20,000th institution to officially recognise Cambridge English exams. The exams, developed by a department of Cambridge University, test the real-life English language skills that people need for success.
Nicola Johnson, Global Manager, Recognition of Cambridge English commented:
‘Cambridge English exams are helping organisations all over the world to ensure their applicants have the English language skills they need for success. This includes universities offering places on courses taught in English, employers who need their staff to use English in their jobs, or immigration bodies assessing suitable applicants. They all have a common goal and ERAU joins a growing global list of organisations that are taking this challenge seriously.’
ERAU now recognises Cambridge English: First, Cambridge English: Advanced and Cambridge English: Proficiency for undergraduate and graduate admissions.
James Goonan, ERAU Director of International and Graduate Admissions, commented:
‘ERAU uses English proficiency exams to identify students who will be successful in our academic programmes. Our goal is to have students that are conversant in speaking, listening, reading, grammar and sentence structure, and Cambridge English exams have a strong record of predicting student proficiency levels accurately, with their research and reliability studies giving us a great deal of confidence. We also like that the exam is available in over 130 countries as ERAU has students enrolled from over 100 countries.’
Cambridge English qualifications are now recognised by more than 10,000 universities, by government departments (including immigration departments in Australia and the UK), and by employers in sectors including retail, finance and manufacturing. Growth in the number of recognising bodies has accelerated over the last five years, underlining the reputation of Cambridge English exams as a highly reliable indicator of English language ability.
