The number of international students using Cambridge English: Advanced and Cambridge English: Proficiency when applying to UK universities has increased by over 300 per cent since 2011 – according to figures from Cambridge Assessment English.
The rise in student numbers reflects the qualifications’ quality, security and growing global recognition. Students can be awarded up to 140 UCAS points for a grade A in Cambridge English: Proficiency and 70 points for a grade A in Cambridge English: Advanced. The exams are also recognised around the world, including in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the USA, as well as many destinations in Europe and beyond.
The high-level exams deliver an in-depth analysis of the four key language skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). They also cover use of English to help generate an accurate assessment of language ability.
Cambridge English: Advanced and Cambridge English: Proficiency are part of the Cambridge English suite of exams, developed by Cambridge Assessment English – provider of the world’s leading range of qualifications for learners and teachers of English.
Both qualifications demonstrate advanced ability in the English language skills essential for effective study and – in addition to academic recognition – are accepted by a wide range of other organisations, including employers and immigration and citizenship institutions, such as the UK Home Office and Australia’s Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
