  2. Online Cambridge Day Germany 2023

Our free event for English teachers

With the help and support of our authorised exam centres, we are delighted to present our online Cambridge Day for English teachers in Germany.

Join us online for a rich programme with teaching tips and fun ideas as well as information on how to structure exam preparation for your students and get more information on our learning materials.

We will first kick things off with a live testimonial from an experienced teacher from Germany. The teacher will give you the ins and outs of preparing and taking a Cambridge English Qualification. We will then continue on to cover a range of topics, including some very practical hands-on teaching tips from Penny Ur. We will also explore strategies and approaches to promote a more collaborative learning environment for teaching grammar.

We look forward to welcoming both new and experienced Cambridge English teachers online.

NB. Certificates of attendance will be given to participants.

Your Cambridge team

Live testimonial

PatriciaBöhn-KaiserPatricia Böhn-Kaiser has been leading the Cambridge English project at Hohe Landesschule Hanau since 2013. Their students prepare via their extracurricular courses the B2 First and C1 Advanced exams. When the students receive their certificate, a small ceremony is organised and shared with the wider community on the school website and in local media channels. Patricia will share with us how she has successfully implemented Cambridge English exam preparation courses as well as give us some insights on the learning material she uses with her students.

Presentations

My 30 top teaching tips - Penny Ur

This session presents a series of practical teaching tips. These are primarily based on my decades of classroom experience teaching English to all ages and levels in a country where English is little spoken outside the classroom but enriched occasionally by insights from the research.

Penny UrPenny Ur  has thirty years' experience as an English teacher in elementary, middle and high schools in Israel. Now retired, she has taught M.A. courses at Oranim Academic College of Education and Haifa University. She has presented papers at TESOL, IATEFL and various other English teachers' conferences worldwide. Her books include Discussions that work (1981), Five-minute activities, co-authored with Andrew Wright (1992), A course in language teaching (1996), Grammar practice activities 2nd Edition (2009), Vocabulary activities (2012), and A course in English language teaching (2012), Tips for Teaching Vocabulary (2022), all published by Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

The Collaborative Grammar Classroom: Dynamic Approaches to Teaching Grammar - Rachel Jeffries

During this session, we will explore strategies and approaches to promote a collaborative learning environment for teaching grammar at B1 and B2 level. We will look at ways we can encourage learners to communicate and work together during traditionally individual tasks as well as promoting a collaborative approach to producing grammar in writing and speaking activities.

Rachel Jeffries - shieldRachel Jeffries started her teaching career over 10 years ago as a secondary teacher of Drama. She has experience in teaching a wide range of ages and nationalities, in various countries. Rachel has written a booklet of creative drama activities to accompany Storyfun (Cambridge University Press) as well a creative drama project. She holds the PGDE and the DELTA. Rachel is Pedagogical Solutions Manager at Cambridge University Press and Assessment
