TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test)

Prove your teaching knowledge with this series of flexible tests

TKT is a series of modular qualifications which test your knowledge in specific areas of English language teaching. It offers a cost-effective way to get an internationally recognised qualification.

TKT will help to build your knowledge and confidence. You can take as many modules as you want over any time period and you'll receive a certificate for each module you complete.

Whether you are a new teacher or have years of experience, TKT enables you to prove your teaching knowledge.

About the test

TKT is made up of three modules that cover core aspects of English language teaching and two specialist topics. You can take any number of modules, in any order or combination.

Core modules:

Module 1: Background to language learning and teaching
Module 2: Lesson planning and use of resources for language teaching
Module 3: Managing the teaching and learning process

Specialist modules:

TKT CLIL: Content and Language Integrated Learning
TKT YL: Young Learners

Digital and paper tests

All TKT modules are assessed through an 80-minute multiple-choice test.

The test is available in two formats, so you can choose which best suits your needs. Paper-based tests are taken using a question paper and pen. Digital tests are completed using a computer; they can be booked closer to the test date and offer faster results.

Whichever format you choose, it's the same qualification, so you can prepare in the same way.
