The Cambridge English Schools programme was launched in mainland China at an event held in Guangzhou Province, in November.
Four local schools became the first in China to be join the Cambridge English Schools programme, a global initiative run by Cambridge Assessment English and Cambridge University Press (CUP). The Cambridge English Schools programme aims to help schools raise standards of English language learning for all pupils.
The four schools joining the Cambridge English Schools programme, all from Guangdong Province, are: Guangdong Country Garden School; Guangzhou Huamei International School; South Foreign Language School of Songshan Lake; and Phoenix City International School.
Around 100 representatives from local schools and training centres across Guangdong Province attended the Cambridge English Schools launch event, which also included a seminar on the impact of testing, jointly presented by Steven Miller, Cambridge English Regional Director, East Asia, and Dr Lillian Huang of the Guangdong Department of Education, and a panel discussion on best practice in English teaching and assessment featuring representatives of the four schools joining the Cambridge English Schools programme.
