Cambridge University Press & Assessment has signed a new agreement with Republic of Türkiye Center for Assessment, Selection and Placement (ÖSYM), to boost English language learning and assessment opportunities in Türkiye.
Cambridge says the new agreement will focus on closer collaboration, English language learning and assessment research, training and increasing access to Cambridge English learning materials across Türkiye.
Francesca Woodward, Managing Director for English at Cambridge University Press & Assessment said:
‘We’re delighted to be working more closely with the ÖSYM as this will open up more opportunities for English language learners across Türkiye. Cambridge has a long history in Türkiye helping people to learn English and prove their skills to the world. The new agreement will help boost this further so even more students, teachers, and schools will benefit from Cambridge English approach. We’ll also be collaborating on more research so we can answer some of the big questions that are shaking up the sector.’
The agreement was signed at a special ceremony in Cambridge by Francesca Woodward, Managing Director for English at Cambridge and the OSYM’s President Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali Ersoy.
Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali Ersoy said:
‘I believe that our collaboration with Cambridge University Press & Assessment will significantly contribute to enhancing the quality of language examinations in our country and to advancing the scientific field of language assessment through joint research efforts. I am confident that the initiation of this partnership will be mutually beneficial for both institutions and will pave the way for many innovative practices in the field.’
During their visit to Cambridge, representatives from the OSYM (including Dr. Seçil Alaca – Counselor to the president) and Dr. Nida Kırömeroğlu , Head of Department of Foreign Language Exams got a chance to discuss projects experts at Cambridge are working on including a looking at the future of assessment, how Cambridge develops international tests, and the importance of measuring educational impact in test development.
The news follows 2023’s announcement that OSYM will continue to recognise high level Cambridge English exams.
