A new online English test is taking off in Colombia following an official recognition from the Ministry of Education and an increase in the number of organisations offering the test. The online test, known as Linguaskill, has been developed by a team of experts from Cambridge Assessment English, a department of Cambridge University. Linguaskill uses the latest cutting-edge technologies in language assessment. This includes artificial intelligence capabilities to make sure that test content is tailored to a candidate’s individual performance, and a high-tech auto marking feature. The test has been developed by a dedicated team of experts in Cambridge and trialled by speakers of over 40 languages from 50 countries to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the results.
It can be used to test English language skills for the workplace and to validate the English level at universities, which experts in Cambridge say is an ongoing challenge in Colombia and the rest of the world. The test is being increasingly offered through a growing network of agents in Colombia including Multingua Bogota, International House Bogota, Focus Your Mind.
The recent recognition by the Colombian Ministry of Education confirms that Linguaskill meets national requirements for education institutions to link their language programmes to the levels defined in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), as specified in the Colombian Technical Standard (NTC) 5580.
