This document outlines:

• the candidate result, based on a student’s total score in all five papers
• a graphical display of the student’s performance in each paper (shown against the scale Exceptional – Good – Borderline – Weak)
• a standardised score out of 100 so students can see exactly how they performed. It has set values for each grade, allowing comparison across sessions of the exam.

Students will receive the same certificate as candidates who take B2 First.

B2 First – Level C1
Exceptional candidates sometimes show ability beyond B2 level. Students that achieve grade A in their exam will receive the First Certificate in English stating that they demonstrated ability at Level C1.

B2 First – Level B2
If a student achieves grade B or C in their exam, they will be awarded the First Certificate in English at Level B2.

Level B1 Certificate
If a student’s performance is below Level B2, but falls within Level B1, we will recognise their achievement with a Cambridge English certificate stating that they demonstrated ability at B1 level.
