Dr Mattia Zingaretti
Impact Evaluation Analyst
Dr Mattia Zingaretti is an applied linguist specialising in language learning and teaching, with research experience spanning linguistic, cognitive and educational approaches to the study of bi/multilingualism. As Impact Evaluation Analyst at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, he evaluates English language teaching, learning and assessment programmes for stakeholders worldwide.
Within the Impact Monitoring and Evaluation team at Cambridge English, Mattia contributes his distinctive expertise both as an interdisciplinary mixed-methods researcher and as a former teacher of English and Italian, together with a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in language education.
Before joining Cambridge, Mattia was Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and TESOL and Programme Lead for undergraduate degrees in Linguistics and TESOL at York St John University, where he also served as Research and Knowledge Exchange Lead at the Community Language School. During his doctoral studies at the University of Edinburgh, he worked on language learning and teaching projects funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, Una Europa and Erasmus+. Across both institutions, he taught and supervised students at all levels.
Mattia holds a PhD in Linguistics and English Language, an MSc in English Language and a PGCert in Academic Practice from the University of Edinburgh, and a BA in English and German from Sapienza University of Rome. A Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA), he shares his research with academic and public audiences across peer-reviewed publications, conferences, blogs, podcasts and outreach events, and reviews regularly for international publishers and funding bodies.
