The University of Bari Aldo Moro is the first Italian university to make Linguaskill available to nearly 60,000 undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students.
The university has been using Cambridge English Qualifications for the past two decades, and their courses blend traditional teaching with innovative multimedia. Professor Concetta Cavallini, President of the Language Centre, says that “Testing the English language levels of students is important for our university as we use Linguaskill for admission, graduation and to help our students prove their skills in English to join the Erasmus project. But not only for these purposes, in fact we use Linguaskill to test the university employees who want to further their career.”
Linguaskill is an online test which covers all four language skills – listening, speaking, reading and writing - powered by AI. Test takers receive a detailed report showing their level in each skill in just 48 hours.
Professor Cavallini, continues by saying that, “We really like the fact that Linguaskill quickly measures our students’ level, and in fact candidates get their results back in less than two days.”
Emanuela Benedetta Vitale, a student of Law at the University Aldo Moro says that she found the modular structure of Linguaskill refreshing, and she really appreciated the opportunity to choose and combine the three test modules. Linguaskill uses a reporting system aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), an international standard for describing language ability.
Claudia Castorani, Centre Exam Manager at the University of Bari, sums up, “The online test can be easily administered and invigilated at any time, at any venue. I’d recommend Linguaskill for many reasons: it’s reliable, fast, and working with Cambridge means collaborating with the most serious provider of English language assessment.”
The University of Bari collaborated with Cambridge on a video testimonial to explain insights and benefits for their staff and students: watch it here. For more information on Linguaskill, visit the website.
