Educational games and having fun are great ways for children to improve their English skills, according to a department of Cambridge University who have developed a range of games for learners of English.
Speaking at the launch of Monkey Puzzles - a new App for the iPad and iPhone which helps children practise their reading skills in English, Lorna Pedersen from Cambridge Assessment English says:
“Recent research shows that one of the best ways to learn English is to integrate it into our everyday lives and this has been the driving force behind Monkey Puzzles and our other educational games for learners of English.”
The comments come as Cambridge Assessment English launch their popular Monkey Puzzles game as an App for the iPad and iPhone. Monkey Puzzles is an educational game which was originally launched online at the end of last year. It has since helped thousands of children around the world practise their reading skills when learning English. It includes eight different mini games using vocabulary from the Cambridge English: Young Learner’s exams and is packed with animations and sounds from a host of animal characters including lions, giraffes and elephants.
Lorna Pedersen adds: “Monkey Puzzles has already helped thousands of children to improve their English and have fun. We decided to launch it as an App so more people can experience the game whilst they are on the move.”
Monkey Puzzles is ideal for children preparing for the Cambridge English: Young Learners exams and is targeted at levels A1–A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
It’s the latest game to be launched by Cambridge Assessment English. Their range of games started with 2012’s Academy Island which has been played by 450,000 people to-date.
