Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing has confirmed that the September session for the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) will not go ahead this year. Students who need to take BMAT for entrance onto healthcare related courses will still be able to take the test in November, which will give them more time to prepare for the test day.
The decision was taken as part of Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing’s ongoing commitment to protecting the health and safety of candidates their families, and the staff in test centres. It’s part of a raft of measures being rolled out as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to have an impact on education worldwide.
BMAT is used by universities around the world to select applicants for medical, dental and biomedical courses. It tests key skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and application of scientific knowledge that are crucial for success on an academically demanding, science-based degree.
Gwendydd Caudwell, Head of Development and Delivery at Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing says,
‘We’ve been working around the clock to ensure students can take BMAT this year in a safe environment and as a result the planned September session will not go ahead. Students can still take the test in November and I’d recommend they use the time to prepare for test day so they can do their very best in November. BMAT continues to play a significant role in ensuring students with the highest potential get selected for healthcare related courses and we remain fully commitment to supporting students during this difficult year’.
