Gwendydd is part of the International Education Team at Cambridge Assessment English and works with Ministries of Education and Educational bodies worldwide to advise and support on both small and large-scale educational reform projects.
Gwendydd has over 15 years’ experience working as a teacher, teacher trainer and centre manager. She started in the Americas before joining the British Council in 2005 going on to work for them as a Senior Teacher and Manager in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
During her time as a teacher, she took a keen interest in assessment and completed her MA in Language testing in 2012 at Lancaster University. She is currently working on her PhD at the Centre for English Language Learning and Assessment (CRELLA) at the University of Bedfordshire. This has led her to significant experience working on bespoke assessment projects, such as the Science Olympiad Foundation English test and a bespoke young learner assessment in Uruguay as well as extensive item writer and test development training to help embed successful English language testing systems in schools.
Gwendydd regularly presents at conferences worldwide on her work. Her particular interest lies in Young Learner assessment and last year she co-authored a book on the subject with Dr Angela Hasselgreen entitled ‘Assessing the Language of Young Learners’.
Gwendydd speaks Welsh, French, Spanish, and Czech.
