The New School in New York is the latest American university to start recognising Cambridge English Qualifications. The decision means that students planning to study undergraduate and graduate courses at the New School can now prove their English language ability with two high-level Cambridge English Qualifications: C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency.
‘This is fantastic news for students planning to study at The New School,’ commented Pete Novak, Country Manager for Cambridge Assessment English. He continued: ‘The New School has a strong track record for international students and a diverse student body that represents 116 countries. Students applying to study at the New School with a Cambridge English qualification will have the English language skills they need for a positive study experience. This is because we design our qualifications to support the learning process and cover the real-life communication skills that students need to confidently take part in higher education courses’.
C1 Advanced is an in-depth, high-level qualification that covers the skills that students need to follow an academic course at university level and participate with confidence in tutorials and seminars.
C2 Proficiency is Cambridge Assessment English’s highest-level qualification that shows students have mastered English to an exceptional level.
Both qualifications are produced by Cambridge Assessment English and are the most rigorous English proficiency qualifications that cover real life communication skills. They measure English language skills in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which is the global standard for measuring language ability. Cambridge Assessment English was involved in the development of the CEFR, and all of their examinations are aligned to the levels described by the CEFR. Experts at Cambridge continue to work towards the future development of the CEFR through ongoing research projects.
The New School, which is based in New York and Paris, is home to Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, the College of Performing Arts, The New School for Social Research, the Schools of Public Engagement, and Parsons Paris. They have 10,000 degree seeking students and their student body is 34% international and represented by 116 countries.
