Catarina Bell, a developer from Cambridge Assessment English, has been shortlisted for a prestigious DevelopHER award, a scheme that celebrates women in technology. She was recognised by the judges for her development work on English Adventures with Cambridge – a new game that helps children learn English in Minecraft. Catarina has been shortlisted in the Game Development category.
English Adventures with Cambridge, which was developed by experts at Cambridge Assessment English, has already clocked up more than 300,000 plays in 170 countries. Players taking part meet memorable characters in a Minecraft setting and have to use their English language skills to play activities and solve puzzles and challenges.
The DevelopHER awards were set up in 2013 to shine a light on incredible women working in the tech industry and to provide advice and support. The final results will be announced at a special ceremony in Cambridge in November.
