Cambridge English and the Ministry of Education in Cyprus have set up a pilot project which will to give state school students more access to English language learning and assessment materials.
A sample of students and schools will take part in the programme, which will be up and running in the next academic year. It will include a benchmarking test for first year students and the chance for students in the 3rd grade of secondary school to take Cambridge B1 Preliminary test for schools.
Students taking the qualification will also get access to official English language preparation materials from Cambridge University Press and Cambridge English. Teachers preparing students for the exam will also get access to a programme of seminars.
The B1 Preliminary for Schools is an internationally recognised English language exam developed by Cambridge English. It includes content that is targeted at school-aged students and shows that you have mastered the basics of English and have practical language skills for everyday use. It is targeted at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference – an internationally recognised standard of language ability.
Interested students will also have the chance to take an IGCSE examination, which is developed by Cambridge Assessment International Education.
