Experts from Cambridge will join universities from across the Gulf region to discuss how English language testing in the higher education sector will look in a post pandemic world.
The Future of Digital Assessment in the Post Pandemic World on 18 May is being hosted by Cambridge Assessment English, a department of Cambridge University. The event will bring together language testing experts from Cambridge along with representatives from Higher Colleges of Technology (UAE), Zayed University (UAE), American University of Sharjah (UAE), Al Gurrair University (UAE) and Al Yamamah University (KSA). They will discuss the challenges the sector has faced over the last twelve months, along with the solutions and best practice for online learning and assessment.
Speaking in the run up to the event, George Hanna, Head of Business Development, META at Cambridge Assessment English said:
‘The last twelve months have been a very challenging time for the higher education sector, and I’ve been inspired by how universities in the Gulf region have adapted to the restrictions of Covid-19. At Cambridge we help hundreds of thousands of students in the region every year take English tests. They help them to get a place at university, to check their progress during their course and to see what level they are at graduation. By pulling together and adapting to the online learning environment, we’ve all played an essential role in helping to ensure this important sector continues to thrive. Today’s event will be a great chance to reflect on the lessons we’ve learnt so we can put systems in place to ensure we continue to offer students the very best English language journeys in a post pandemic world.’
During the event Nicola Johnson from Cambridge Assessment English will talk about: Education in a Post Pandemic World. This will be followed by the round table discussion, which will look at the future of digital assessment, recognition, national agendas and challenges and solutions. It will be moderated by Cambridge Assessment English’s Dr Hisham AlSaghbini.
Attendees at the event will include a range of professionals in the Higher Education sector including Deans, Heads of English Departments, Chairs of Departments, Academic Managers, Admissions Managers and Directors.
The event will also showcase Linguaskill, Cambridge Assessment English’s online English test which is powered by Artificial Intelligence. Participants will learn how Linguaskill is a quick and convenient online test which can help higher education institutions check the English proficiency levels of individuals and groups of candidates.
