A multiple award-winning luxury 5-star resort in Tuscany chose Linguaskill to improve and certify their employees’ English skills. This is the first organisation from the hospitality sector in Italy to use Linguaskill to further develop the language skills of their staff.
Nearly 100 employees working at Toscana Resort Castelfalfi attended a four-month English course taught by the British School Pisa Group. At the end of the course the staff took Linguaskill, a quick online English test developed by Cambridge University Press & Assessment and powered by cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence and adaptive algorithms.

English communication skills are fundamental and at the core of everything we do, the services and the care we provide to our many guests who come from all over the world, most of whom speak English. I really appreciate the challenge posed to our staff with the course and the test. They all did great and I’m sure that this will boost their confidence when speaking English.’
Linguaskill can be easily administered and invigilated at organisations’ own venues with only the need for a computer, an internet connection, a microphone and a set of headphones. Staff at Castelfalfi were administered the test at the resort and the material was provided and set up by the British School Pisa Group based in Pisa.
Linguaskill is designed to check the English levels of individuals and groups of candidates, and it covers all four language skills - speaking, reading, writing and listening - and provides accurate results within 48 hours. Results are aligned to the Common European Framework of Reference, the international standard for describing language ability.
The multi-level test is powered by cutting-edge adaptive algorithms which mean that each test is tailored to each candidate’s ability. The Speaking and Writing modules use a high-tech, AI auto-marking feature as part of the hybrid marking approach.
The test is officially recognised by more than 1,300 organisations around the world including higher education institutions, government ministries and the corporate sector.
