Poland: Uniwersytet Przyrodniczy we Wrocławiu (Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences) will begin accepting the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) results for students applying to study on veterinary medicine courses. The move makes Wroclaw the first medical school in Poland to use BMAT as a requirement to study veterinary medicine.
Katarzyna Kosek-Paszkowska PHD, Vice-Dean for International Relations and English Studies at the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences said:
‘At the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences we have a strong focus on internationalisation. Our Veterinary Medicine course has been available in English for over ten years, attracting applicants from all over the world, and more courses are soon to follow as other faculties develop their offer. Recognising BMAT will let us open our doors to an even broader range of applicants, including those who got their qualifications in education systems vastly different from ours. Our team at the Admissions Office will certainly appreciate this opportunity to simplify the application process and offer new solutions to prospective students.’
BMAT has been used by world-leading universities since 2003, helping admissions tutors to make objective selection decisions and allowing students to show their full potential. It tests students’ ability to apply scientific and mathematical knowledge, as well as problem solving, critical thinking and written communication skills that are essential for university.
Andy Chamberlain, Head of Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing said:
‘We’re delighted that BMAT will now be used to recruit students who want to study veterinary medicine in Poland. BMAT has become a valuable tool for student recruitment in the medical sector. With BMAT, recruiters at medical schools can make fair decisions and find students with the skills they need to thrive on their courses. This helps to make sure students have a positive study experience, which gives them the confidence they need to make a real difference in the veterinary sector’.
Students applying to the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences can take the test in February 2021 at authorised test centres around the world. Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Poland joins several other medical schools and universities in Poland that use BMAT as part of the recruitment process.
