More than 250 English teachers in Turkey, who prepare students for Cambridge English Qualifications, came together to learn more about the best ways of delivering English language teaching for a full day conference in Istanbul.
The teachers from across schools in Turkey took part in a ‘Cambridge Day’ in Istanbul – which included a series of professional development workshops to help increase their confidence.
The event was organised by Cambridge Assessment English and teachers got to meet the experts behind the Cambridge English Qualifications. It was a great opportunity for teachers to learn more about the exams available to them and their students, along with teaching tips and classroom strategies.
Cambridge Assessment English Turkey Country Manager Mehmet Gürleyen said:
‘The key to improving standards is through good quality teaching, and this is something that is very important to us in Cambridge. We’re seeing huge developments in teaching practices and strategies, and the teacher remains very much at the heart of everything. However, it’s essential that teachers keep up to date with their training, knowledge and skills which has been the focus of today. By keeping up to date, teachers are able to build their confidence, progress their careers and improve standards in their classrooms.’
A big part of the event included a look at how two of the popular Cambridge English exams aimed at schools are being updated in January 2020. The updates to A2 Key for Schools and B1 Preliminary for Schools is part of a thorough review by which is being carried out to ensure the exams remain relevant and up to date with the latest research in language learning and teaching.
