Top ranked public policy graduate schools accept high-level Cambridge English exams

09/02/2021

Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and the Harvard Kennedy School have started accepting C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency. The move will mean students applying to study at the two universities will now be able to prove their English language ability with the high-level Cambridge English Qualifications.

C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency are both in-depth rigorous qualifications, designed to test the communication skills that people need in the real world. Experts behind the test in Cambridge have designed C1 Advanced as a high-level qualification that shows people have the language skills that employers and universities are looking for. C2 Proficiency is the highest-level qualification from Cambridge Assessment English that shows individuals have mastered English to an exceptional level.

The Cambridge English Qualifications embody the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) extremely closely. Cambridge has been involved in the development of this standard since it was first conceived, and an extensive programme of research and validation ensures that the exams are precisely aligned to it.

Peter Novak, Country Manager - USA and Canada for Cambridge Assessment English said:

‘It’s fantastic that these two high-profile public policy graduate schools have joined the list of education institutions around the world that accept Cambridge English Qualifications. We’ve designed our qualifications to be really rigorous assessments of English, which means students have to work hard to gain these high level qualifications. They help to ensure that students can cope with the demands of university life, and give them the communication skills they need after graduation. This gives students the confidence to communicate in seminars, understand complex articles and write essays and assignments.’

‘We’ve been operating for over 100 years, serving an ever-growing community of students, universities and recruitment professionals in the higher education sector.’ adds Novak.

Cambridge English exams are recognised by over 25,000 universities, employers and governments around the world. Our English language tests open doors to higher education, improve employment opportunities, and because they are globally recognised, can increase your choices for study or work.
