Dr Sylwia Macinska
Senior Research Manager
Sylwia manages research in the area of learning-oriented assessment (LOA) and the use of feedback for supporting and monitoring learners’ progress, with a focus on new product development and impact investigations.
Before joining Research and Thought Leadership Division, Sylwia worked as a Research Officer in the Qualification Development strand in the Assessment and Research Division, where she explored a wide array of accessibility solutions and best practices in education to inform the development of accessible examinations. In the past, she also worked as a Specialist Student Mentor for students with learning disabilities and taught on Research Methods and Statistic courses in Psychology at the University of Hull and Birkbeck, University of London.
Sylwia holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Hull, where she investigated the influence of emotions on implicit cognitive processes in typical development and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) using behavioural research methods and eye-tracking.
Throughout her studies and research career, Sylwia developed a keen interest in Data Science, which she is currently pursuing by working towards a Masters-level Digital and Technology Solutions (Data Analytics) Degree Apprenticeship sponsored by Cambridge Assessment. Her research interests include learning analytics, adaptive learning and universal design for learning (UDL).
