We recommend Cambridge English Qualifications, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency. These qualifications are recognised by institutions worldwide as proof of English language proficiency – they open doors to international higher education and beyond.

Why choose a Cambridge English exam?

  • C1 Advanced is accepted by the Department of Home Affairs for student visa applications, and also Temporary Graduate, Skilled, Former Resident, and Work and Holiday visa programmes. DIBP accepts results for exams taken up to two years before a visa application is made.
  • Many Australian universities and colleges accept C1 Advanced; this includes all of the Group of Eight universities including the University of Sydney, University of Adelaide and the University of Melbourne.
  • Many TAFE (Technical and Further Education) institutions in Australia accept B2 First and C1 Advanced including TAFE NSW and TAFE Queensland.
  • C1 Advanced is accepted by Australia’s three professional accounting bodies (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Certified Practising Accountants Australia (CPA Australia) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) from international accountancy students applying for temporary graduate or skilled migrant visas.
  • Top international companies such as Adidas, BP, Ernst & Young, Hewlett-Packard, Johnson & Johnson and Microsoft accept Cambridge English exams.

Studying in Australia - frequently asked questions

Can I use a Cambridge English exam to apply for a student visa?

Yes you can. The Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) accepts C1 Advanced for student visa applications, as well as for other visa categories.

Are Cambridge English exams accepted in Australia?

Yes. Most universities and colleges, and TAFE institutions, accept C1 Advanced as proof of English language ability and many also accept B2 First and C2 Proficiency.

How can I find out which is the right exam for me to take?

Check the website of your chosen institution/course for full details about their latest English language requirements and how to apply.

How do I book my Cambridge English exam?

To take your Cambridge English exam, you simply register with an authorised exam centre. Your centre will help you with booking a date and preparation courses.

How do I prepare for my exam?

Your exam centre can find you a course to prepare you for the exam. We also offer a wide range of learning resources, including preparation materials and free resources.

How quickly do I get my exam results?

Results for computer-based exams are available in two weeks, and in four weeks for the paper-based exam.
